Ballet & Jazz Combo Class Instructor works on listening skills, motor skills, praise, rhythm and memory through use of props, music and fantasy. Basic positions of arms and feet are introduced in creative ways for a fun way to absorb material. Children are disciplined to strengthen body for strong basis of all other dance movements. Recommended if your child (5-8) has never taken a dance class before. Tap & Jazz Combo Class Children learn basic tap steps and musicality in a FUNtastic structured lesson. Over a course of 6 weeks children learn fun combinations that introduce technical tap terms and rhythms. While foot placement is important, posture, hand placement, and musicality are also emphasized. Combining listening skills with syncopated footwork, kids are allowed to explore sounds and rhythm in a creative outlet. Recommended if your child (5-8) has never taken a dance class before. HIP HOP (Kid Hop) Your child is exposed to the culture of street dancing and the technical training of dance. Hip Hop has an entertainment quality uniquely its own but students are encouraged to develop their individual style while learning choreography. This course constantly motivates children to express themselves in a structured, fun, creative session. They learn to utilize the beats and rhythms of the music as well as isolating the different body parts. Salsa Typically a social style of dance, this class focuses on the basics (whether you are beginner, intermediate or advanced student) of salsa dancing and allows the student to develop their own style through the exploration of rhythm and patterns. Students progress at their own pace through a FUN filled 6 week course which not only teaches them about the dance but themselves! The course is topped by a class outing which happens at the end of every course, where students can employ and enjoy what they've learned in class in a real social setting. This class not only focuses on the technical aspects of the dance, but the main reason why we dance salsa... because it's FUN!!! Students who want to advance from beginner to intermediate, or new students enrolling into intermediate, must be evaluated by instructor before registration is approved into Intermediate1 or Intermediate2. Why do we do this? So that everyone enjoys the class. If you are a beginner and are not ready to advance into intermediate, 2 things will happen: (1) You will not be able to execute the moves correctly and you will become frustrated with yourself. When this happens, the class will stop being fun and more importantly, dancing in general will stop being fun! (2) Other students in the intermediate class who are dancing at an intermediate level, will not be able to advance in their learning. Salsa-Intermediate1: For the student who has a strong understanding of the salsa basics, timing and dynamics of partner dancing (direction & spacing). Is ready for a more advanced combination of steps. Salsa-Intermediate2: For the student who has advanced through the Intermediate1 and is ready for more challenging combinations. Please make arrangements with the Salsa instructor to be evaluated so that you may enjoy and get the most out of your Salsa experience. Have FUN!!! Body Sculpting (formerly) Merenguerobics A super fun way of getting your workout!! This class is taught to the beats of Merengue music and incorporates basic Merengue dance steps into a high/low impact class that keeps you moving. After a quick warm-up and stretching session, brace yourself for a great cardio workout. The class wraps up with weights, ab exercises, a cool down and stretching. Targeting almost every muscle group, this class is sure to help you get and stay in shape! Extreme Fitness A high impact class, this quick moving workout incorporates cardio, weights and abs into a 1 hour of extreme exercise. Fast paced, high-energy, cardio-kick style! Combine this class with any of our other fitness classes and you will have a great variety in your fitness plan! Cardio/Stregth Training High/low impact class incorporating cardio, weights and targeting specific muscle groups to help strengthen body from the core. Taught to the latest hip-hop beats, this class is a fun way to loose those extra pounds and sculpt your body into the master piece you know it is!! |
